Claire Blennerhassett

Claire Blennerhassett explores the concepts of human-nature and human-animal dualism in her analysis of climate change and food sustainability. This ideology puts humans apart from or superior to nature and is considered a driver of ecological destruction.

Despite the darkness of the narrative, Claire is cautious to avoid perpetuating feelings of hopelessness (eco-anxiety) or blame, aspiring instead to optimism for the future, reflected by the growing global commitment towards sustainability and the successes of young people in promoting climate change initiatives.

Her work is research driven and the findings integrated through paint and installation in overlapping layers of text and meaning reflecting on a world that is in a constant state of destabilisation.
